Developed in collaboration with industry partners like Bayer and Siemens, these models leverage Microsoft's cloud platform to provide tailored solutions for businesses. OpenAI is set to launch a new AI agent called Operator in January 2025. This tool will autonomously perform tasks on behalf of users, such as writing code or booking travel, by interacting directly with their computers. Initially available as a research preview through OpenAI's developer API, Operator aims to revolutionize productivity by automating complex, multi-step processes.
NVIDIA and SoftBank Corp. are collaborating to accelerate Japan's journey to becoming a global AI powerhouse. Their partnership includes building Japan's most powerful AI supercomputer using NVIDIA's Blackwell platform and piloting the world's first combined AI and 5G telecom network. Perplexity, an AI-powered search engine, has started experimenting with ads on its platform. These ads, appearing as "sponsored follow-up questions" and side-positioned paid media, aim to generate revenue while maintaining unbiased answers. Initial partners include Indeed and Whole Foods, and the ads are currently being tested in the U.S.
Apple has unveiled Final Cut Pro 11, its first major update in 13 years, packed with AI-powered features. Key highlights include Magnetic Mask, which isolates subjects without a green screen, and Transcribe to Captions, which generates closed captions using an in-house language model. The update also supports editing spatial video for Apple's Vision Pro, enhancing creative workflows and efficiency.
