The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is implementing an automated scoring engine that employs natural language processing technology similar to chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. This system aims to replace a majority of human graders, with anticipated annual savings of $15–20 million.

• Seattle Public Schools (SPS) has recently begun implementing AI software from a startup called MagicSchool AI. This Denver-based company offers generative AI tools to assist teachers in swiftly creating lesson plans and providing student feedback. Additionally, MagicSchool AI provides separate tools for students to enhance learning and promote responsible AI use. The software leverages AI models from various sources, including OpenAI and Google.

• AI has the ability to identify parasitic worm eggs in human fecal samples, even those missed by traditional microscope-based analysis. The AI accurately detected 76% to 96% of infections caused by different parasitic species, including cases overlooked by human experts. This breakthrough could improve the diagnosis and treatment of parasitic worm infections, which affect approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide and can lead to malnutrition and other health issues

• Apple is gearing up for a significant upgrade to its Mac lineup by introducing new in-house processors. According to Bloomberg, the company is on the verge of producing its next-generation chips, known as M4 processors. These chips are expected to power a range of Mac models, including the MacBook Air and the Mac Pro.
