• Amazon has introduced Amelia, a generative AI assistant designed to help third-party sellers on its platform. Amelia assists sellers by quickly resolving account issues and providing sales and inventory data. Initially launched in beta for select U.S. sellers, Amazon plans to expand its availability later this year.

• Lionsgate has partnered with Runway AI to develop a generative AI model trained on its extensive catalog of 20,000 titles. This AI will assist in creating storyboards and other pre- and post-production tasks, potentially saving the studio millions of dollars. While this deal represents a significant step towards integrating AI in Hollywood, it also raises concerns about the impact on creative jobs and the authenticity of AI-generated content

• Apple has released a new AI software update for Siri, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 16. This update, branded as “Apple Intelligence,” aims to make Siri more conversational and capable of automating various tasks. Initially available in U.S. English, the update will expand to other English-speaking regions by December and to additional languages next year. The AI features include enhanced writing and proofreading tools, photo editing capabilities, and improved email summarization.

• Microsoft and BlackRock have teamed up to form the Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership (GAIIP), aiming to raise up to $100 billion to develop AI data centers and the energy infrastructure needed to power them. The initiative, which includes Global Infrastructure Partners and MGX, seeks to initially gather $30 billion, with a future goal of $100 billion through debt financing.
