• The New York Times has recently embraced AI tools for its product and editorial teams. The company introduced an internal AI tool called Echo for summarizing content and approved other AI tools like GitHub Copilot for coding and Google’s Vertex AI for product development. The Times encourages staff to use AI for tasks like generating SEO headlines, brainstorming interview questions, and suggesting edits, while maintaining that journalists will always handle the core reporting and editing.

• Mistral has launched a new AI model called Mistral Saba, designed specifically for Arabic language and culture. This model, with 24 billion parameters, aims to excel in Arabic interactions and is also effective with South Indian languages like Tamil and Malayalam due to cultural cross-pollination. Mistral Saba is available via API and on-premise deployment, catering to industries such as energy, finance, and healthcare.

• South Korea plans to secure 10,000 high-performance GPUs by the end of 2025 to establish a national AI computing center. This initiative, led by the government in collaboration with the private sector, aims to boost the country's AI capabilities and position it as one of the world's top AI powerhouses. The center is expected to open by 2027 and will have a computing capacity of 1 exaflop, with potential expansion to 2 exaflops with private investment.

• DeepSeek's AI technology has become a crucial feature in Chinese smart electric vehicles (EVs). Over a dozen automakers, including BYD and Leapmotor, are integrating DeepSeek's AI to enhance safety through advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), improve in-car infotainment, and elevate the overall driving experience.
