• TIME has released its 2024 list of the 100 most influential people in AI, highlighting leaders, innovators, and thinkers shaping the future of artificial intelligence. Notable figures include Sundar Pichai (Google), Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Sam Altman (OpenAI), and Jensen Huang (Nvidia). The list also features emerging voices like Sasha Luccioni (Hugging Face) and Mustafa Suleyman (Microsoft AI), showcasing a diverse range of contributions to the AI field

• Cerebras has unveiled a groundbreaking AI inference chip that rivals Nvidia’s DGX100. This chip boasts 44GB of high-speed memory, enabling it to handle AI models with billions to trillions of parameters. It supports models up to 70 billion parameters across multiple systems and maintains high accuracy with 16-bit model weights. The platform offers instant AI capabilities, running large models at 450 tokens per second, and is available for free trial with 1 million tokens daily.

• Elon Musk has denied reports that Tesla plans to license AI models from his startup xAI. He clarified that while Tesla has benefited from discussions with xAI engineers, there is no need to license xAI’s models for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. Musk emphasized that xAI’s models are too large to run on Tesla’s vehicle computers and that Tesla has already made significant progress towards unsupervised FSD

• Dysolve AI, developed by Coral Hoh of EduNational, LLC, is an AI-powered software designed to help children with dyslexia improve their reading skills. The program creates personalized games to evaluate and enhance language processing in the brain. Truly Heft, an 18-year-old student from Montgomery County, overcame her dyslexia with Dysolve AI and now attends Gwynedd Mercy University.

• Salesforce has announced the open-source release of its “large action models” (xLAM), designed to power autonomous agents with data and actions. These models, including the compact xLAM-1B, offer lower costs and higher accuracy compared to larger AI models. The xLAM models are optimized for function calling, enabling them to perform specific tasks like generating customer insights and summarizing calls.
