• Millions of sky watchers are eagerly anticipating Monday’s total solar eclipse. The celestial event, the first to traverse the continent since 2017, will first touch land on Mexico’s west coast and then track northeast across heavily populated areas and major cities in three countries. Some regions along the path of totality will experience nearly four-and-a-half minutes of darkness. Approximately 31.6 million people live along this path, and millions more are expected to travel to witness the eclipse.

• Google has revealed that, from April 7 to April 8, it will spotlight a content collection on Google TV. This curated collection simplifies the process for users to discover the appropriate channels for live eclipse viewing. All free, ad-supported local channels broadcasting eclipse coverage will feature custom-themed title cards that link directly to the live stream within the Total Solar Eclipse collection on Google TV.

• Opera, the innovative browser company, has introduced a groundbreaking feature in its Opera One browser. This browser now provides experimental support for 150 local LLM (Large Language Model) variants from around 50 families of models. These local LLMs can be easily accessed and managed directly within the browser, marking a significant milestone. Among the supported models are Llama from Meta, Vicuna, and Gemma from Google.

• Oracle, a major player in the tech industry, envisions a future where national and state governments increasingly rely on sovereign AI clouds. Oracle’s chairman and chief technology officer, Larry Ellison, predicts that nearly every government will seek a dedicated cloud region for critical functions like defense, taxes, and health care. The company has already collaborated with countries such as Albania, using ChatGPT to streamline legal processes related to its ascension to the European Union.
