In California, a groundbreaking dining experience has emerged with the world’s first fully automated restaurant. This futuristic eatery, known as BurgerChef and Flipply, is staffed entirely by robots equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI). These robotic culinary masters serve up a classic American fast food menu, including juicy burgers, crispy fries, succulent chicken wings, and golden onion rings. Despite the absence of human touch, the creators claim that the flavors of their dishes remain indistinguishable from those prepared by traditional chefs, facilitated by facial recognition software for payment.
Researchers from MIT and other institutions have developed a machine-learning framework called Tyche that captures uncertainty in medical images. Unlike traditional models that provide a single answer, Tyche generates multiple plausible segmentations for a given image. These segmentations highlight different areas, allowing clinicians to consider various possibilities. Importantly, Tyche doesn’t require retraining for new tasks, making it user-friendly for biomedical researchers and clinicians.
