Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is a biannual event held by Samsung Electronics where they showcase new devices, including smartphones, tablets, and wearables1. These events serve as a platform for Samsung to unveil their latest innovations. Here are the main products announced in this year’s event in Paris -

1. Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6:

   • The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 7.7-inch foldable display when unfolded, along with a 6.2-inch cover screen. It boasts improved durability and multitasking capabilities.

   • The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a clamshell-style foldable phone with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. Both phones come with AI-enhanced features for smoother interactions and better app continuity.

2. Galaxy Ring:

   • The Galaxy Ring is a smart ring that monitors health metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality, and stress levels. It syncs with your phone and provides real-time insights.

3. Galaxy Watch Ultra:

   • The Galaxy Watch Ultra is designed for fitness enthusiasts. It offers extended battery life, advanced workout tracking, and rugged durability.

• Intuit, a company with a successful track record of self-disruption and reinvention, has invested in AI, building a large AI-driven expert platform. To strengthen their leadership position, they will be laying off approximately 10% of their workforce. However, this move allows them to allocate additional investments and will hire a number of employees with AI skills.

• OpenAI has introduced a new research team called Superalignment. Their mission is to address the core technical challenges of superintelligence alignment within the next four years. Meanwhile, there’s speculation that we could witness an AI demonstrating human-level intelligence by 2027, potentially leading to a “super intelligence” in a short span of time.

• The Future of AI Innovation Act is a bipartisan effort by U.S. Senators. This legislation aims to maintain U.S. leadership in global AI development. By fostering an enabling environment for AI innovation, the bill addresses economic opportunities and impacts across various aspects of American life. The act recognizes the transformative potential of AI while also considering workforce implications and privacy concerns

• SoftBank has formally acquired U.K. chip company Graphcore, although the terms of the deal were not disclosed. Graphcore, known for its “intelligence processing unit” (IPU) chips designed for AI workloads, had raised around $700 million since its inception and reached a valuation just shy of $3 billion in late 2020.
