  • At Google I/O 2024, Google unveiled a series of AI-driven innovations, headlined by Project Gemini, which aims to revolutionize vision and voice recognition on mobile devices. The event also introduced Project Astra, enhancing AI in Search with new video and Imagen models, and the launch of Android 15, promising an improved user experience. Developers were introduced to Firebase Genkit for building AI-powered apps and LearnLM, a generative AI model designed for educational purposes.

  • Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder and the chief scientist of OpenAI, has departed from the company. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed his sadness over Sutskever’s departure, praising him as one of the greatest minds of the generation and a key figure in the company’s success. Jakub Pachocki, a prominent researcher within OpenAI, will take over as the new chief scientist.

  • Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), is stepping down after a three-year tenure to spend more time with his family and recharge. He will be succeeded by Matt Garman, the current AWS senior vice president of sales and marketing, effective June 3rd. Selipsky’s leadership saw AWS reach a $100 billion annual revenue run rate and the launch of significant AI services like Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q
