• A group of OpenAI insiders is blowing the whistle on what they say is a culture of recklessness and secrecy at the San Francisco artificial intelligence company. The group, which includes nine current and former OpenAI employees, has raised concerns that the company has not done enough to prevent its A.I. systems from becoming dangerous as it races to build the most powerful A.I. systems ever created

• Intel has announced new artificial intelligence chips for data centers, aiming to compete with rivals Nvidia and AMD. The Xeon 6 processor, unveiled during the Computex tech conference in Taiwan, promises improved performance and power efficiency for high-intensity data center workloads.

• Sword Health, a medical startup, has introduced an innovative AI solution called Phoenix. This conversational AI guides patients through virtual physical therapy sessions, offering a more human-like experience. Patients can directly communicate with Phoenix about their feelings, and it responds, adjusts session difficulty, and duration in real time. The company aims to enhance pain management from home, avoiding treatments like opioids and surgery.

• Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) involves having an LLM send a request to an external data source (such as a vector database) to retrieve authoritative information, aiming to reduce the occurrence of “hallucinations” where the model confidently asserts falsehoods. As RAG becomes more commonplace, it will likely enhance how AI models perform by incorporating external sources of information
